Track of the Week: Jungle Drum

Music, Music Reviews 2 Comments »

What is cute and clever and indie all over? You guessed it…

The Track of the Week is “Jungle Drum” by Icelandic singer Emiliana Torrini (She is half-Italian, which explains the name).  The track is from her latest album Me and Armini.

I dare you not to tap your feet to this song. All I can say is, good luck!

Check her out at her website or preview the entire song here at Rhapsody.com.

Vinyl Reviews

Hi!  My name is Sarah, and I’ll be reviewing the best of the music world that’s currently available on vinyl.  Some people are surprised to learn that newer bands still put out records (in addition to CDs), or don’t know that older albums are still being released on new vinyl.  I’ll be reviewing both classics and new albums - anything I have in my collection.

And for all you up-to-date people out there, I’m sure it won’t be a problem finding the mp3s or CDs of these albums.  :)  Look for reviews to enjoy in the very near future!  **

Guitar Hero Expert…at 12.

For those who don’t know, the song he’s playing is “Through the Fire and Flames” on Guitar Hero III….regarded to be the hardest song to play in any Guitar Hero game.  And he’s doing it on expert…with his back turned to the TV for the intro.  Just sick.  I imagine this kid is no more than 12.

Top 20 - Blissfully Happy Songs

Music lovers all have it: their own unique way of keeping all those MP3 files organized. I personally could not live without my iTunes playlists. I have all my tunes organized into playlists, mostly by mood. As I purchase new ones, I add them to whatever playlist they correspond to.  (I know, I am completely OCD).

One of my favorite playlists is my “Blissfully Happy Songs” list. Without fail, these songs put a smile on my face and raise my spirits.  I hand-picked my 20 favorites from that playlist to share. They are in no particular order because I adore them all equally.

1. “Multiply”  - Jamie Lidell

2. “Raspberry Beret” - Prince

3. “Sweet Escape”  - Gwen Stefani

4. “Mama Told Me Not to Come”  - Tom Jones & Stereophonics

5. “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” - Queen

6. “Boogie Shoes” - KC & the Sunshine Band

7. “Steal My Kisses” - Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals

8. “Tire Swing” - Kimya Dawson

9. “New Soul” - Yael Naim

10. “Island in the Sun”  - Weezer

11. “(What a) Wonderful World” - Sam Cooke

12. “The Way You Make Me Feel” - Michael Jackson

13. “The Way I Am” - Ingrid Michaelson
